The turn column is your outs divided by the 47 cards you cannot see. The river column counts both remaining cards. The last column is the mental shortcut, which tracks the exact numbers well up to about ten outs and overstates them after that: the rule of 2 and 4 has the method and the drift.
Pot odds chart by bet size
| Bet you face | Odds you are getting | Equity you need |
|---|---|---|
| Quarter pot | 5 to 1 | 17% |
| Third pot | 4 to 1 | 20% |
| Half pot | 3 to 1 | 25% |
| Two-thirds pot | 2.5 to 1 | 29% |
| Three-quarters pot | 2.3 to 1 | 30% |
| Pot | 2 to 1 | 33% |
| Overbet, 1.5x pot | 1.7 to 1 | 38% |
| Double pot | 1.5 to 1 | 40% |
Break-even equity is your call divided by the pot after that call, so the percentages travel: they are the same in a home game and in a large pot. Compare the number to what your hand is worth and the decision is made. The worked version lives on how to calculate pot odds.

| Open-ended straight draw completes by the river | 32% | 1 in 3.2 |

| Two unpaired cards flop at least one pair | 32% | 1 in 3.1 |
| Two suited cards get three more of their suit by the river | 5.8% | 1 in 17 |
| Dealt any pocket pair | 5.9% | 1 in 17 |
| Dealt pocket aces | 0.45% | 1 in 221 |
Draw rows assume the flop is out and both remaining cards are still to come. Counting the outs correctly is the input to every one of them, and poker odds explained covers what an out is and when one is not real.
Preflop matchup equity chart
| Matchup | Example hands | Favourite | Underdog |
|---|---|---|---|
| Overpair against an underpair | AA against KK | About 80% | About 20% |
| Pair against two overcards | 22 against AK | Slight edge to the pair | Close to even |
| Dominated high cards | AQ against AK | 74% for AK | 26% for AQ |
| Best starting hand against any two cards | AA | 85% | 15% |
| Big pair against any two cards | QQ, then JJ | 80%, then 77.5% | 20%, then 22.5% |
| Best unpaired hand against any two cards | AKs, then AKo | 67%, then 65% | 33%, then 35% |
These are approximations. Suits and straight interference move most of them a point or two, which is why the poker writing quotes them as roughly 80/20 rather than to a decimal. The one-page summary of the whole set is the poker cheat sheet.
Poker odds FAQ
What are the odds of hitting a flush draw?
A flush draw has nine outs, and it completes by the river about 35% of the time. If only the turn card is coming, it is about 19%. Both numbers are in the outs table above.
How do you convert outs to odds?
Multiply your outs by 2 for one card to come, or by 4 when the turn and the river are both still coming. That is the rule of 2 and 4, and it tracks the exact numbers closely up to about ten outs before it starts to overstate them.
Is there a printable poker odds chart PDF?
Yes. The PDF at the top of this page holds all four tables, and each table also downloads on its own as an image. Neither format asks for an email address.
What percentage of the time do pocket aces win?
Against one random hand, pocket aces win about 85% of the time before the flop. Against a specific hand the number moves: against pocket kings it is around 80%.
