GTO Wizard is worth it if you play regularly, already know the fundamentals and will study solver spots every week: Premium, at $99 a month or $79 a month billed yearly, opens every preflop solution and the full heads-up postflop library. It isn’t worth it for a beginner yet, because solver output assumes you already read ranges and frequencies.
For a beginner, a free app such as Poker Skill, which we make, teaches the game first, and GTO Wizard’s free plan lets you test solver study before you pay.
Who GTO Wizard is worth it for
It pays off in proportion to how often you study, so the verdict changes with the player.

| If you | Worth it? | Where to start |
|---|---|---|
| Play regularly and study most weeks | Yes | Premium, $99 a month |
| Build your own spots or study 3-way pots | Yes | Elite, $169 a month |
| Play now and then | Not yet | GTO Wizard’s free plan |
| Are still learning hand rankings and position Ours | Not yet | Poker Skill’s free app first |
A regular gets the most from GTO Wizard: someone who plays several sessions a week, online or in a casino, and sets aside time to study between them. GTO Wizard turns the hands you play into homework you can check, from a solved spot to your own uploaded hand histories.
Who should skip it for now
Skip it if you play a home game now and then, if you won’t sit down to study most weeks or if hand rankings and position still take thought. A subscription only earns its price through hours of study, and none of those players will put in the hours.
Is GTO Wizard worth it for beginners?
Not yet. A solved spot shows how often each hand in a range takes each action, which teaches only once you know why position, stack depth and pot odds matter. Learn those first. Poker Skill is built for that stage, with full hands against AI opponents in Practice vs AI and lessons from hand rankings up, free on iPhone and Android. GTO Wizard says on its own homepage that beginners can use it to learn basic GTO concepts, and its free plan lets you find out for yourself once the basics feel automatic.
Which plan is worth the money
For most players who decide to pay, Premium is the plan to buy. Starter gives Trainer hands without a daily cap but on a basic library: in Cash, postflop spots at 100 big blinds with no straddle or ante spots. Premium opens every preflop solution and the full heads-up postflop library, adds flop and turn reports and analyzes 100,000 of your hands a month. Elite is worth its $169 a month if you’ll build your own spots, test opponents’ habits with nodelocking or study the solved 3-way spots and tournament ICM spots after the flop. Ultra is for solving your own multiway spots: preflop with up to nine players and 3-way postflop.
What a month costs
Prices and features checked October 2026. Every plan and the Ultra change on October 15 are in GTO Wizard pricing.
What to try for free first
Each of these has a free version that shows you whether it fits before you pay. GTO Wizard’s free plan gives 10 Trainer hands and 100 preflop solutions a day, enough to get a feel for solver study. DTO Poker’s free account trains one cash postflop spot with no hand limit and opens every cash preflop solution. Poker Skill’s free version has one Practice vs AI game a day, every lesson and the Daily Puzzle, and we also publish free solver answers for heads-up pots, each with the why in plain words.

Each game format is a separate subscription, and PLO4 has its own prices.

Compared with Poker Skill: GTO Wizard is worth its price for weekly solver study, with a library of solved spots Poker Skill doesn't have, while Poker Skill teaches the game itself on iPhone and Android.

DTO Poker
Cheaper solver drills
$9.99 a month for Cash Beginner or Tournament Grinder, on the web
Best for Players who want to play hands against a GTO bot and have each decision graded, for much less than GTO Wizard.
Skip if You play PLO, which DTO doesn't cover, or you want exact EV loss and frequencies without paying for a top plan.
Free version A free account trains one cash postflop spot with no hand limit, opens every cash preflop solution and gives 5 Virtual Coach explanations a day in the web trainer.
Where it runs Web, iPhone, iPad and Android; the explorer is web only
DTO Poker's trainer has you play hands against its GTO bot and grades each decision, with an explorer of solutions on the web and a Virtual Coach, powered by OpenAI, that explains hands in words. Cash and tournament play are separate products with their own plans. Exact EV loss and frequencies come with each product's top plan, Cash Pro and Super High Roller.

Compared with Poker Skill: DTO Poker is the better pick for cheap drills graded against solver solutions, while Poker Skill teaches Hold'em from the rules up on iPhone and Android.

Lessons run from hand rankings to continuation bets, one concept at a time, and the Daily Puzzle grades every option of one decision a day. It teaches Texas Hold'em only, and the app has no library of solved spots.

How we compared
- Who it pays off for
- What each plan adds
- What it costs
GTO Wizard was judged on who it pays off for, what each plan adds and what it costs, with two alternatives for the players it fits less well. Its prices and plan limits come from its plan menu, read signed in on October 2, 2026. DTO Poker’s come from its own site and store listings, read October 2, 2026. Poker Skill’s come from its store listings and the app. Whether it’s worth it for each kind of player is our judgment, and we make Poker Skill.

Frequently asked questions
Is GTO Wizard worth it for beginners?
Not yet. A solved spot shows how often each hand takes each action, and that only teaches once you can read ranges and know why position matters. Learn hand rankings, position and starting hands first, then try GTO Wizard's free plan to see whether solver study clicks.
Is GTO Wizard Premium worth it?
For a regular who studies every week, Premium is the plan most worth paying for: it opens every preflop solution and the full heads-up postflop library, with flop and turn reports and 100,000 analyzed hands a month, for $99 a month or $79 a month billed yearly. Starter's library is basic, so Premium is where the depth starts.
Is GTO Wizard Elite worth it?
Only if you'll set up your own spots, study pots with three players or need tournament ICM spots after the flop. Elite adds custom heads-up solves with GTO Wizard AI and nodelocking, which shows how to exploit a player's habits. It also opens the solved 3-way spots and, in Tournament, the ICM postflop library, for $169 a month or $139 a month billed yearly.
Is the GTO Wizard free plan enough?
For trying solver study, yes: 100 preflop solutions and 1 postflop solution a day, 10 Trainer hands a day and 10 analyzed hands a month show you how it works. For regular study it isn't, since the postflop allowance covers very little.
Is GTO Wizard worth it for tournament players?
For a tournament regular, yes. Its Tournament plans add ICM spots, which value chips by the payouts rather than their count, and Premium holds tens of thousands of ICM preflop solutions, with ICM spots after the flop from Elite. A Tournament plan is separate from Cash, so playing both formats means two subscriptions.
