What a beginner needs first, and what can wait
A beginner’s first job is the game itself: the hand rankings, what each position at the table changes and which hands to play from each seat before the flop. Preflop choices belong in that first job because the hands you choose help decide the spots you face after the flop. Poker Skill begins where that list begins, with hand rankings and reading the board, then positions and blinds. It teaches outs and the rule of 2 and 4, which turns an out count into a rough chance of hitting, before it reaches raise-or-fold decisions by position.
A solver helps when ranges already make sense to you.
