Why UTG bets 86% of its range
- It has the range advantage: its range has 61% equity against the big blind's 39%.
- It has the nut advantage too. Only UTG holds pocket aces and pocket kings (6 and 3 combinations), and kings make the top set. The big blind's range, built from calls, has neither and holds fewer sets and two pair in all.
- With both edges it bets nearly everything: even ace-high bets 90% of the time and hands with no pair 88%.
- Its pairs below top pair check the most: second pair 23% of the time, third pair 24% and underpairs 25%. They are medium-strength hands that make good bluff-catchers.

Where the numbers come from
The numbers come from a commercial solver's precomputed solution for a 6-max cash game at 100 big blinds, with a 5% rake capped at 15 bb and 2.5 bb opens. It allows one bet size at each decision, and here that size is a third of the pot. Two players see the flop. Pots with three or more players aren't covered, and neither are bet sizes outside this solution. Poker Skill read the numbers and wrote the explanation.
