Why the button bets its aces
- Aces are an overpair on K♠ 7♦ 2♣, higher than every card on the board. A♥A♦ has 88% equity against the big blind's checking range.
- Betting is worth 7.46 bb to A♥A♦ on average and checking 7.38 bb. The solution still checks the hand 8% of the time.
- All six combinations of aces together bet 87%. That is more often than the button's whole range (68%) or its top pairs (74%), and less often than its sets (100%).
- The six combinations split by suit: A♥A♦ bets 92% and A♦A♣ 81%. An overpair that blocks the big blind's backdoor flush draws, hands that keep calling, checks more often. With no heart on the board, the A♥ blocks none of them, while A♦A♣ blocks two suits.

Where the numbers come from
The numbers come from a commercial solver's precomputed solution for a 6-max cash game at 100 big blinds, with a 5% rake capped at 15 bb and 2.5 bb opens. It allows one bet size at each decision, and here that size is a third of the pot. Two players see the flop. Pots with three or more players aren't covered, and neither are bet sizes outside this solution. Poker Skill read the numbers and wrote the explanation.
