What a good AI poker coach tells you during a hand
A good coach gives you the price of a decision before you make it. Pot odds are that price, and Poker Skill’s Coach Max puts them in front of you on a call-or-fold spot, in lines such as “How often is he there? You’re getting 3-to-1. You need to be good about 1 in 4.” The 1 in 4 tells you how often the call has to win.
Why does 3-to-1 mean about 1 in 4?
At 3-to-1 you call 1 chip to win 3. Make that call four times, win once and lose three times, and you gain 3 chips and lose 3, which is break-even. Win more often than 1 time in 4, or 25 percent, and the call wins chips over time. That 25 percent is the call’s break-even equity.
After the hand, the grade should belong to the decision, whatever the cards did next, since a call can be right and still lose the pot. That is how the coach grades in Poker Skill’s Practice vs AI: against Showdown AI’s strategy for each spot. Poker Trainer AI says results do not override decision quality: its grades weigh position, stack depth and pot odds, and winning the pot does not make a decision correct by itself. PokerSnowie judges each move as you make it and shows how often it would take each option, so you see at once when you chose a move it never makes.
