What made it hard
DJ's J♠ T♣ made an ace-high straight on the Q♠ K♦ A♥ flop, and all eight players checked it. Mariano's A♦ 7♠ paired the ace there, and the 7♦ turn gave him two pair, aces and sevens. DJ checked again and Mariano bet $500. The other six folded and DJ raised to $1,000, which left Mariano $500 to call into $1,900. Mariano took 17 seconds and raised to $3,975, enough to put DJ all-in, and DJ called. An ace or a seven on the river would have given Mariano a full house. The 2♣ came, and DJ's straight won the $8,350 pot.
